Searchable Databases

Use the following databases to search for research papers in many forms: articles, book chapters, government reports, conference proceedings, etc.

Academic Search Premier - info
A general database that indexes articles in academic journals, newspapers and magazines covering nearly all academic disciplines. Notice that you can limit to Scholarly journals, including peer-reviewed, before you search.

Proquest Research Library - info
A database with both popular and scholarly materials that span the academic disciplines.  Some materials are full-text within this database, and some are not.

Jstor - info
This database offers full-text journal articles in just about any discipline. Note: Current issues are now available for selected journal titles. Over 30 journals from the discipline of Sociology are included, and all journals within Jstor are scholarly.

CQ Researcher - info
This is a great resource to look for articles arguing for or against a particular issue.  Each weekly edition of this newsletter discusses a social issue from a pro and a con point of view.

SocINDEXinfo
A subject-specific sociology database with extensive coverage of many important journals published in the field.  Notice that you can limit to Scholarly journals, including peer-reviewed, before you search.

PsycINFO - info
An extensive psychology database with both scholarly and popular articles. Issues such as work productivity, team efficiency and conflict resolution, among many others, will be covered.

Godey's Lady's Book Digital Archive
In Philadelphia in 1830 Louis Antoine Godey (1804-1878) commenced the publication of Godey’s Lady’s Book which he designed specifically to attract the growing audience of American women.The magazine was intended to entertain, inform and educate the women of America. This collection provides the complete run of Godey’s Lady’s Book, and is the only one containing the color plates as they originally appeared.
