Library Pro Tips for New SJU Students

Website Tour

60 Second Website Tour

These are the sections of the library website that you will use the most for research.

The main search box on the library website is called Discover.  It is the most comprehensive search offered by the library.  It searches most of our databases, and the library catalog.  If you need to find information on a topic, this is the place to start.

Databases A-Z

This is where you find links to each of our databases.  Some of them have specialized search interfaces that you may want to use instead of a Discover search.

Journals A-Z

This is where you can search for the title of a periodical (magazine, journal, newspaper) to find links into the issues that we have available.

Library Catalog

Use this to see if we have a particular book or dvd available on the library shelves.  You can request contactless pickup using the Request Hold button in the catalog.

Research Guides

Research Guides give tips for conducting research on a specific topic or for a specific class. Use them to independently get started on your research.
