Search Tips

Use the database Thesaurus to find appropriate search terms. Each database uses its own specialized vocabulary for subject terms.

Use Refine Results in PsycINFO and PsycARTICLES to narrow your search. You can limit by source types, publication date, subject, age or gender of participants, etc. We suggest you do not limit to full text only. If the full text is not in this database, it may be in another database or in print. Use the find it button button to see your options.

What is a...?

Scholarly journal: Authored by academics for an academic audience. Published by a recognized society with academic goals & missions.

Peer-reviewed journal: Articles go through an editorial review process by the author's peers, people who are considered to be experts in the same subject area. Most scholarly journals are peer-reviewed, but not all. To limit results to peer-reviewed articles in PsycInfo, use the checkbox on the Advanced Search screen before searching. See video for details:
