What is Copyright?

What is Copyright Law?

Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17 of the United States Code) governs the making of copies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.  The making of an electronic copy of copyrighted work by any means, (e.g. scanning, digitizing, ripping, etc.) constitutes reproduction that is governed by Copyright law.  Fair Use and The Teach Act are 'bundles of rights' afforded to content users under copyright law.  Click here for a Copyright Timeline: A history of copyright in the United States
