engaging incoming freshmen, rising sophomores, and transfer students in a common reading experience with the theme of the Ignatian value of social justice

THURSDAY, August 22nd

At the Claver House (map)

  • 10:00am - 2:00pm: move-in*
  • 3:30 - 4:00pm: welcome, interfaith blessing, and water ice social with families 
  • 4:00 - 5:00pm: introductions and icebreaker activity
  • 5:30 - 6:30pm: dinner on campus with student leaders and faculty
  • 7:00pm: presentation on immigration and Catholic social teaching with Fr. Rickle
  • Remainder of evening: reflection and social activities with student leaders

*All participating students should have received an email with move-in details. 

FRIDAY, August 23rd

Exploration of Philadelphia's Immigrant Communities 

  • 7:30am - 9:00am: optional breakfast on campus in Campion (map)
  • 9:00am: bagels and orange juice in Wachterhauser Seminar Room, Post Learning Commons 
  • 9:30 - 11:30am: presentation on immigration and book discussion in Wachterhauser 
  • 11:30pm: lunch on campus *NOTE CHANGE 
  • 1:00pm: trip to Philadelphia immigrant neighborhoods and community service 
  • 5:30pm: dinner in Philadelphia with student leaders, faculty, and staff 
  • Evening: reflection and social activities with student leaders on campus
