A joint project by ten major natural history and botanical libraries to digitize the published literature of biodiversity held in their respective collections. About 55,000 books are available online thus far.

Online database of the world's known species of animals, plants, fungi and micro-organisms, organized as a single integrated species checklist and taxonomic hierarchy.

This project aims to provide a web page for each of the approximately 1.8 million known species living on Earth. To search the database, type a common name or scientific name into the Find box at the top of any page.

The Tree of Life Web Project aims to create a web page with pictures, text, and other information for every species and for each group of organisms, living or extinct. Pages are connected by phylogenetic branching patterns between groups of organisms, so visitors can browse the hierarchy of life and learn about phylogeny and evolution.
